Saint Stephen or StS is a modern American restaurant located in Germantown neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee.

Led by Celebrity Chef and James Beard Award Winner, RJ Cooper, the cuisine is focused around seasonal ingredients and our wood fire.

We work directly with farmers, fisherman, foragers and hunters to source the best products locally, nationally and internationally. The dining room and the kitchen share the same open space, creating a dynamic-intimate experience between the StS team and our guests.

StS's Secret Society multi-course, avant-garde, tasting counter invites guests to interact with the chefs as they craft each course. 

One seating is available on Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm.

The StS beverage program consisting of carefully curated wines from Old World and the New World. Local, national and international craft beers and hand crafted cocktails. The beverage team works with the StS philosophy to create a dynamic beverage experience.

RJ Cooper has forged a critically acclaimed culinary career leading to the opening of Saint Stephen and is on the forefront of modern American cuisine. His daily work ethic is still fueled by the satisfaction of creating inspired dishes and leading the StS team. 

Chef’s culinary philosophy of dedication, determination, focus and finesse and fostered by the land and sea, the sense of place in Middle Tennessee. The kind of ingredient cooking and modern techniques he has been studying his entire career.  

RJ is a James Beard Award for Best Chef Mid Atlantic and has several nominations. Chef owned 2 critically acclaimed restaurants in Washington DC. He now calls Nashville his home & is a firm believer in using local fresh ingredients to create dishes inspired by his years of cross country adventures.

Saint Stephen, his restaurant in the vibrant Germantown neighborhood, is no exception to this belief and his creative obsession.  StS’s ever evolving menu and avant-garde Secret Society tasting counter, RJ and his team, are crafting inspired new adventures for every guest.

Corey Hargis

Chef de Cuisine

Raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, our Chef de Cuisine Corey Hargis grew up cooking with his mother and grandmother. It was then he fell in love with the kitchen and ventured to Hyde Park to attend the Culinary Institute of America. He landed in Nashville and has worked in the fine dining scene for the past 6 years, perfecting his craft and using his acquired skill sets from each restaurant to our benefit each day at Saint Stephen.

Hargis’ believes simple food is the best food because it has less to hide behind, he truly lets the ingredients do the talking and prides himself on using local produce, using 100% of the product & preserving as much as possible. His ingenuity shines when pulling in French influences, he favors the homey countryside feeling the culture exudes. Much like Chef RJ, Hargis’ favorite thing about the industry is the camaraderie in the kitchen and being able to pass knowledge onto others while helping future generations of cooks be the best they can be.
